We would like to welcome you to the official website of the municipality of Neerijnen.

As the contents are destined primarily for the residents of Neerijnen and Dutch visitors, the text is totally in Dutch. If you are interested in further information about our beautiful area, however, please e-mail us at gemeente@neerijnen.nl. It would be our pleasure to help you.

The Neerijnen district consists of 10 villages: Est, Haaften, Hellouw, Heesselt, Ophemert and a part of Zennewijnen, Opijnen, Tuil, Varik, Waardenburg, as well as Neerijnen itself.

It lies practically in the centre of The Netherlands. The River Waal forms the southern border and the E.31 (A.15) motorway – a very important link between the Europort of Rotterdam and the industrial heart of Germany and Eastern Europe – represents the northern border.

Another important highway, the E.25 (A.2) - also known as the “route de soleil” as it leads directly to Southern Europe – also crosses through our area.

The district of Neerijnen is full of interesting sites – historic castles, stately homes, boating marinas, quaint towns and villages and also the great rivers of The Netherlands, with their scenic dikes.

We have an abundance of flora and fauna - the flora highlight being our glorious fruit trees which produce a spectacular variety of blossom in the spring. We are famous for our “blossom tours” which the visitor can make by car, by bicycle or on foot, with camera in hand! These fruit trees bring another attraction in late summer/early autumn when their delicious fresh produce is for sale all over the region.

We have much to offer the visitor who has already seen the sites of Holland’s biggest attractions and is in search of something different and more peaceful. Enjoy your visit to our website and then enjoy a visit to our wonderful region. We look forward to welcoming you.
